Countdown to kickoff vs. St Roberts [ ]

Defensive Notes:
This is their second game of the season against St Wenceslaus.

GOALS:

  • COMMUNICATE!
  • Control the line of scrimage (stay low and use your hands).
  • Contain the QB, break down and contain (DE's, OLB's especially).
  • Hit #42 low, don't let him move the pile.
  • Communicate where #19 is, they like to pass to him.
  • Play your position and don't overpursue. RB's and QB like to cut back.
  • Tackle Low and Hard. WRAP UP.
  • Have Fun!

FORMATIONS USED:

  • Double-tight shotgun, two-back set with a single split.
  • Double-tight, Power-I.

Out of this formation, St Roberts likes to hand it off to either RB up the between the B or C gap while the other RB will lead block. So far they mostly like to run to the split side (strong side) of the formation. Every now and then they will fake the hand-off and the QB will keep it on a bootleg run or will pass out of the bootleg. #19 is who they like to pass it to so we need to know where he is at all times. He doesn't come out of his stance that strong so DE's make sure you jam him everytime off the line.

Be ready for any counter, reverse and they also run an option out of this. Lead RB blocks and opposite RB gets the option.

They also ran a long pass out of this formation by sending the split on a fade. QB will loft if up, corner stay with your man and Safety get over to help.

Out of this formation, they like to play power football and run it between the tackles. D-Line must stay low and keep moving their feet to control the line of scrimage. They run a counter out of this and also run a fake power pass play out of this formation. May also run a power sweep or bootleg out of this.
